SNR of a Quantized Signal using FFT

Hi all,
I have a problem in the calculation of SNR.
Sine wave is quantized and then I have calculated its SNR using FFT. The coherence condition with windowing as well is implemented to avoid leakage in the adjacent frequency bins.
I am unable to calculate the SNR accurately with different resolution of quantizer (ADC).
If I use a standard formula for quantization noise power (Q^2 / 12), the SNR corresponds with the theoretical formula of SNR (SNR = 6.02*NoOfBits + 1.76) but when I try to use my own calculated noise power, the SNR does not corresponds with the theoretical formula with different resolution.
I think, I am not calculating the noise power in the correct way. I have considered the noise spectrum starting from 2nd bin to input bandwidth.
By the way I am using the formula of SNR = 10*log10(RMS_of_Signal/Mean_of_RSS_of_Noise)
Please help.
/Iffe

Hi,

I am new to DSP builder and FPGA programming. I was following DSP builder example which was on implementing FIR filter using DSP builder in Simulink and generating VHDL to be implement in my cyclone 2 FPGA. I came across this block as was given in the example steps which was "HDL SubSystem block" but I can't seem to find this block in my DSP builder library... could someone tell me what is wrong... I even tried reinstalling DSP builder..

Hello, im working on Quartus II web edition and i have not got problems in all process. But when i try to generate a VHDL code in DSPBuilder i need a license. My question is, there is any FREE licence.dat file that i can download from altera web? I´ve bought a Cyclone III starter Kit, may be there is any code in the box that i can use? In altera web i dont find information about DSP Builder registration...

Thank you all.

I have floating license for Quartus 9.1, and Quartus 9.1SP2, it includes NIOS II/SOPC already, but I want to use the DSP Builder, do we need buy another DSP Builder license, or just request a license for DSP?
In Altera website buy software on-line link there isn't any price information for DSP license, I think the Quartus license fee should cover the DSP Builder license. What should I do? Thanks!

Compile DSP Builder 9.0 IP in QII 9.1SP2

Hi there,

We are using QII 9.1SP2 for our projects but we have an IP created using DSP Builder 9.0 with Matlab 2007. Because Matlab 2007 doesn't work with DSP Builder 9.1, we can't really regenerate the IP for QII 9.1 (unless we update our licenses).

Is it possible to directly plug the VHDL files generated from DSP Builder 9.0 into our project and compile under QII 9.1SP2?

I tried it and it gives me the following error:

Error: IP Generator Error: The file xxxx.mdlxml in the directory xxxx can not be read. It may be corrupted.(The following exception occured while validating field: _clockdomainList of class: com.altera.dspbuilder.mdlxml.component_gen.Model: The field '_resetLatency' (whose xml name is 'ResetLatency') is a required field of class 'com.altera.dspbuilder.mdlxml.component_gen.Clockd omain)

I know Altera provides a way to update the IPs from older version of megawizard, but do they also have a way to update the IPs from older versions of DSP builder? After all, all the information the DSP builder needed to generate the IP are already there.

Thanks,
Hua
